Everything Stool Log does
Stool Log is a diary for your gut. Log a stool in a tap, keep symptoms, food, drinks and medicines alongside, and bring a clear record to your doctor. Here's everything it does.
The main features
A report for your doctorA free one-page PDF of your last 14 days: stools a week, hard and loose shares, the longest gap, red flags and each day's stools. Print it or share it.
Log from your Home Screen in one tapStool Log's widgets log a stool, symptom, food, water or medicine in one tap, without opening the app, on your Home Screen, Lock Screen and Control Center.
Log from your wrist with Apple WatchStool Log on Apple Watch logs a stool in two taps, plus symptoms, food, drinks, medicines and "I didn't go", with Siri and the Smart Stack.
See which foods come before bad daysAfter about two weeks of logs, Stool Log's free Possible links shows which foods and drinks came more often before loose or hard stools or a symptom.
Daily goals for fibre, water and habitsSet daily goals for fibre, meals, water, coffee and tea, alcohol, steps, sleep and toilet time, and tick them off on Today or from a widget.
A toilet timer on your Lock ScreenTime how long you sit from the Lock Screen, Dynamic Island, a widget or Control Center. When you're done, the minutes go into your stool log.
A diary for your child or a parentKeep a separate stool diary for a child or a parent you care for, each with its own calendar, insights and doctor report, on your iPhone.
Logging
- Stools by Bristol type, from 1 (separate hard lumps) to 7 (watery), with colour, pain, urgency, straining, mucus, blood, minutes on the toilet, a note and a photo if you want one. See the Bristol stool chart.
- Symptoms such as bloating, cramps, nausea, reflux and wind, with how strong: mild, moderate or severe. Add your own.
- Food, with a photo if you like. Stool Log can suggest what's in the photo, worked out on your iPhone.
- Drinks: water counted in glasses towards a goal, plus coffee, tea, alcohol, juice, milk and fizzy drinks.
- Medicines, with a search of common gut medicines, and daily medicines with reminders and a Taken button.
- "I didn't go" marks a day without a stool, so the report shows a day without a stool rather than a day you forgot.
- Periods, if you choose to track them, to see how your stools change around them.
- Earlier days: log anything for any past day and time.
Seeing your pattern
- Today: your day as a timeline, with daily medicines still to take.
- Calendar: by month, week or list, with each stool's type at a glance, and search.
- Insights: stools a day, hard and loose shares, the longest gap, a day-by-day chart, your usual time of day, symptoms and colours.
Everywhere on your iPhone
- Widgets on the Home Screen and Lock Screen, and Control Center buttons on iOS 18 or later.
- Apple Watch, with Siri and the Smart Stack.
- Siri and Shortcuts to open a log or start the toilet timer.
- Reminders to log, only on days with nothing logged, with "I didn't go" right in the notification.
Privacy and control

- Delete all data removes everything from your devices and iCloud.
